Add-Ons For XF Rendering Server
- Digital Assembly Line (DAL)
- Transpromo
- NetLink
- Web Service (WSDL) Interface
- Variable Data Printing (VDP) Optimization Module
- Enterprise License Manager
Digital Assembly Line
DAL(Digital Assembly Line) is an add-on for XF Rendering Server (Ultrascale
Edition) which enables creation of complex documents from multiple inputs, while
applying consistent headers and footers, page numbering and watermarks across all
pages.
Use Ecrion DAL to create brochures, product catalogues and presentations
which combine both static pages from PDF, TIFF, WordML/DOCX
and dynamic pages from XML.
With DAL you can:
- Achieve a fast time to market by reusing existing content.
- Obtain coherent look and feel of the generated output.
- Generate high quality output (secure, tagged, print-ready).
In addition, the output can be encrypted, and one or more overlays can be applied
to an arbitrary set of pages.
DAL also supports imposition, the
process of arranging multiple printed pages on the printer’s sheet.
Several code samples can be found under the Code Samples folder in the instation directory.
Transpromo
Ecrion Transpromo is an add-on for XF Rendering Server Ultrascale
Edition that enables the creation of targeted marketing messages in your documents.
Transpromo combines the existing transactional message that companies are already mailing to their
customers (in bills, for example) with targeted promotional messages.
Using data analytics and business rules to make a transactional document relevant to each customer
is generating plenty of opportunities for cross-selling.
Because transactional documents have an open-rate of 95 percent, and customers view them
for an average of three minutes, this method of reaching a guaranteed audience is becoming
very popular among marketers.
When this functionality is activated, smart promotional messages will blend
seamlessly with existing content. Moreover, these messages will be included automatically without needing to
changing the layouts of your documents. This can be done
either by automatically finding and using blank space in a page or by reserving page space when needed:

Ecrion's Transpromo functionality is easy to implement and use, offers spectacular
results and has an excellent ROI.

NetLink
NetLink is a load balancing service that runs on top of XF Rendering Service.
Load balancing means distributing processing and communications activity evenly
across a computer network so that no single server is overwhelmed. Busy sites typically
employ two or more servers in a load balancing scheme. If one server starts to get
swamped, requests are forwarded to another server with more capacity.
- Process more documents in less time.
- Ensures reliability by retrying failed requests on different machines.
- The load balancing service is completely transparent to the applications and it
can be configured entirely using the XF Management Console.
Usage scenarios
- One web server that uses other computers to increase the processing capacity:
- The web server can forward requests to all worker nodes but it can also use the
local resources to process documents.
- The local server can also be used for load balancing, or it can be excluded. In
this latest scenario, all requests are forwarded to the remote computers.
- Multiple servers sharing a pool of computers
- Is a cost effective way to obtain formidable scalability and reliability; nodes
can be added and removed dynamically without any downtime.
Web Service (WSDL) Interface
Free add-on that enables web service connectivity. After installing go to
http://localhost/UWS/Ultrascale.asmx to read about this web service.
Or go to http://localhost/UWS/Ultrascale.asmx?WSDL to get a copy of the WSDL file.
Variable Data Printing (VDP) Optimization Module
The VDP Optimization Module is an add-on for XF Rendering Server that enables
the production of an optimized print streams.
In an optimized Postscript stream, content that is reusable (for example table headers and
footers, images, etc) is reused instead of being rasterized every time it occurs on
a page.
The VDP module can detect such reusable content automatically but users have also additional
manual control.
VDP output optimization module is a must for those companies
that intend to create large print jobs and want to achieve the maximum printing speed.

Enterprise License Manager
Recommended for a large number of deployments, the Enterprise License Manager
(ELM) enables the use of floating licenses and a centralized way to manage
all licenses in an organization.
ELM is recommended when deploying XF in the cloud, such as Amazon Elastic Compute
Cloud (Amazon EC2).
Floating Vs. Fixed
Floating licenses are installed in a central location on a ELM server.
The clients (XF Rendering Server, XF Designer, Data Architect and Data Aggregation Server)
will connect to the ELM server and get a lease on one or more licenses
for a limited period of time (usually 1 hour), after which they have to renew the lease again.
There are several advantages in using a floating licensing mechanism, including:
-
Save money by buying less developer or server licenses. For example, you can have 10 developers
share 5 floating licenses. If not all of them use the software at the same time, you avoid
buying 5 extra licenses!
-
Simplify deployment. ELM is a central location to manage licenses, including
adding new ones or installing upgraded licenses.
-
Peace of mind. When using fixed licensing, you will have to be careful to uninstall
a license when a computer will no longer be used. With ELM you don't have to worry about this.
Or about 3rd party consultants not releasing the licenses they borrowed after completing
their assignment.
