Drag and Drop Interface
The user has a drag and drop interface for defining the output. It is very comfortable to use because all you have to do is to open an existing XML document containing data and drag and drop fields onto the design surface.
To define templates, XF Designer can work with both simple XML files or with complex data sources defined in Ecrion Data Architect.

Dynamic Content
Although it looks and feels just like a conventional word processor, XF Designer's strongest feature is presenting dynamic data. Any data source can be used as an input, including XML, databases and web services.
You can retrieve text and images, show or hide sections based on data values, create dynamic charts and barcodes, etc.

Style Sheets
XF Designer can use external CSS files to apply styles to any object in your document including dynamic elements.
CSS files are very versatile because you can maintain all styling information separated from the design, in one place. Multiple documents can share a single CSS file and you can apply formatting styles with just one click.
This feature is available only in the Expert edition of XF Designer.

Multilanguage Interface
XF Designer is available in English, French and German. Adding other languages is very easy! The user interface is also very customizable with support for several color schemes.
Spell-checking support for 17 languages is also provided.

XML Editing
The XML Editor implements full undo/redo support, syntax highlighting, autocomplete and autofill for XSL-FO and XSL. It also includes menu commands to verify the XML syntax, assign XSL stylesheets and run XSL transformations, pretty print, one step PDF generation, etc.

XML Tree and XPath
Based on the XPath language, XF Designer is able to perform structure-aware searches and replacements of certain patterns of elements inside the document.
Advanced programmers can decide to use any XSLT parser they prefer including parsers with support for XSLT 2.0 (such as Saxon).
